    BISG Accessibility Working Group

    The BISG Accessibility Working Group helps publishers, distributors, retailers, and service providers navigate evolving accessibility requirements and standards. The group develops educational resources, shares implementation guidance, and promotes consistent industry practices related to accessibility metadata, content creation, discoverability, and compliance with regulations such as the ADA and European Accessibility Act.

Its website provides extensive guidance on accessible EPUB production, accessibility standards, reading systems, training opportunities, and implementation tools. Publishers will find practical resources to help create digital content that is usable by readers with visual, cognitive, learning, and other disabilities.

    Inclusive Publishing is an industry initiative dedicated to making published content accessible to everyone. The site offers practical resources, case studies, training materials, standards guidance, and implementation tools that help publishers integrate accessibility throughout the publishing process. Its focus on real-world publishing workflows makes it especially valuable for organizations beginning or expanding accessibility programs.

    Bookalope:

    Benetech-Approved Accessible Publishing Tool

    Bookalope is an AI-assisted publishing platform designed to automate ebook production, print layout, and accessibility workflows. As the first tool approved through Benetech's Approved Publishing Tool program, it helps publishers create born-accessible EPUBs more efficiently by incorporating accessibility features and semantic structure directly into the production process.

    World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

    The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops many of the international standards that underpin digital accessibility, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and EPUB specifications. While technical in nature, W3C resources help publishers understand the accessibility requirements and best practices that influence ebook production, websites, digital learning materials, and online content.
